Duck & Waffle: Iconic Eats in London
London is a city known for its diverse culinary scene, offering an array of unique and tantalizing dining experiences, and this definitely ticks those boxes. Duck & Waffle pitches themselves as a true 'gastro diner,' however it’s far more than this. Read on to find out what we thought of the iconic restaurant in Bishopsgate.
📍Duck & Waffle, Bishopsgate, London
The acclaimed restaurant located in London and Edinburgh is famous for its signature dish of crispy confit duck leg served atop a fluffy waffle, drizzled with mustard maple syrup. With stunning views from its 40th-floor location in London, it's definitely a spot to leave a lasting impression! Duck & Waffle have celebrated over 2 million duck and waffles served – no wonder it’s a culinary delight. Plus, it’s no surprise that it’s been recognised for international fame as Duck & Waffle is listed within the World’s 50 Best restaurants.
OUR THOUGHTS:
From initially stepping into the lift and whizzing up to the 40th floor you know it’s not the average London restaurant. With the main dining room boasting breath-taking views of London, the floor-to-ceiling windows provide the perfect panoramic view of the City. An unparalleled space for any lunch, date or midnight snack.
As a sucker for anything duck, I knew this one would be straight up my street! As a table we all opted for their namesake dish. The golden yolk duck egg and maple syrup perfectly balanced the rich and flavourful duck. The fluffy waffle soaks up the syrup, acting as a sweet carb for the plate. There are other options on the menu, not that we considered them, from small plates of Lobster Roll and Spicy Ox Cheek Doughnuts to mains of Whole Roasted Sea Bass and Cacio E Pepe Tonnarelli. They also offer brunch and Sunday roast menus for those cosy lunches above the skyline.
And it’s open 24/7…. Making it not quite the usual spot for drunk food! On a second occasion, I ended up there just to try their Bacon Wrapped Dates with Linguiça, Manchego and Mustard - a pretty pricey date at £4, but well worth it even in the early morning! And it allowed us to take in the views of the not-so-sleeping London beneath us.
Dining at Duck & Waffle is definitely one to add to the bucket list if visiting London! It is definitely a jewel that offers jaw dropping views, killer cocktails and ultimately the best signature dish. You have to get Duck & Waffle, right?!
Duck and Waffle Dinner Review:
Price: $$$ - I mean the prices are sky high for a reason!
Location: Although slightly away from the main buzz of Soho and the West End, Duck & Waffle is just a short walk from Liverpool Street and its well worth the journey for the views.
